Change Up Your Make Up

It's a new season. Spring is in the air and summer is right around the corner. As the seasons change, I find myself needing change. You can relate, right? So, let's take a look at some make-up trends for Spring/ 2010.

Freshen your look with some new, fun colors.

As we spring ahead into summer, pink and orange shades are all the rage. From fuchsia, to coral, to peachy orange, you can't go wrong. Use these fantastic hues as a pop of color on your cheeks or lips. Be sure to choose one or the other. You don't want to over do it!

FABULOUS HOLIDAY HAIR + GIVE AWAY!!

Have any Christmas parties or Holiday events coming up?? If you do, and you are like me, you are probably wondering, "How can I style my hair in a way that's different from my every day nice hair style??" (* I say nice, meaning that some days my hair is not washed and up in a pony tail- let's be honest here! But there are days when I am able to spend time on my hair, and it looks pretty good. Just nothing too special.)

I got a chance to sit down with 'N Vogue's Creative Director, Kristan Francis, to talk holiday hair.

She suggests giving your hair a romantic half up-do. The best way to go about this, you ask?

Heat up a set of small hot rollers

Wrap 2 inch sections of hair around each one- pinning them close to the scalp

After the rollers cool completely, unravel them

Mist hair with a product such as Redken Forceful Hair Spray

Pull a few inches of hair away from either side of your face

Allow the shorter strands to fall loosely forward

Twist this section into a very loose bun of curls

Pin the loose bun against your scalp

Run your fingers through remaining hair.

The Look: Holiday Party + FREE Give- Away!!

It's that time of year. Holiday parties here and there...everywhere! I spoke with Tammy Williams, our Senior Make Up Artist, and asked her to give me some tips to look fabulous this holiday season.

She says glowing skin is all the rage. But how do you get your skin to "glow" when the winter weather sucks up every ounce of moisture? Tammy says it's all about the proper skin care. Her advice?? Use a great quality scrub and moisturizer to keep your skin at it's optimum. If you want your make up to look great, it's all about the skin underneath!

These skin care items work great for most skin types. I don't know about you, but I feel much better about myself when my skin is in it's best shape! 'N Vogue has these great skin care products and more!

On to the Make- Up! What is the look for this holiday season, you ask? Bold eyes and soft lips. Personally, I'm a huge fan of this look. Tammy gave me some great pointers to share with you. Go for a smokey eye using shades of grey, plum, or bronze. Line your eye with a dark shadow or pencil and smudge outward. Use a dark mascara and Va-Va-Voom! Fabulous Eyes! Try Julie's Twilight Palette. (yes, it is named after the movie!) It makes for a great bold eye!

For a soft, nude, lip use a nude color pencil that matches your skin tone and apply a fabulous soft colored gloss. Tammy suggests lining and fillip the lip with Julie's Omit concealer pencil followed by applying her new Tish liplush gloss on top for the perfect nude lip.

Let's Talk About BROWS

I don't know if you have noticed, but perfectly shaped brows will do wonders for your face! I got to talk with 'N Vogue's Brow Guru and Master Esthetician, Annette Hyche, about the specifics.

This is what she says...

"There is more to brow shaping than just wax. It takes an artistic eye to frame the face. It is an instant eye lift when done properly. You can't have someone else's brows. Every facial feature and bone structure is different. This is why it takes an expert to know just how to shape and sculpt the brow to bring out your best features."

Miss Brow Guru herself will strategically, and with precision, align your brows perfectly with your nose and isis of your eyes to determine the most flattering point for your arches. This is key.
She can even apply a vegetable based semi permanent brow tent to make the brows appear even lusher, glossier, and more defined.

Advice from the Brow Guru...
-Don't tweeze in between appointments. You will get your best results if you leave it to the wax and the pros!
-If your brows are over tweezed, it's time for a "grow out" strategy to be put in place to achieve the best brows for your face.
-Visit a make up artist for the perfect brow powder, pencil, or gel. These are great tools to perfect and define your newly sculpted brows.
